lol this is why I don't do videos n stuff anymore :)
Always enjoy the videos but since you don't use the debowler on the Tempest why keep it on as it only acts as a heat sink? I had mine on originally until it was pointed out by @Brenyo that it only pulls heat away from the thermal matrix.
I keep the cap on the top of the Reload to have it somewhere that can handle the heat and give me something to handle instead of grabbing the cap itself

Not sure I know what you mean about the cap. That black thing was the anvil case lid if that's what you mean?
Edit: O the debowler thing. It helps me to have a point to spin the cap off from.

I haven't mentioned this before, and I noticed that no one else is mentioning it either, but I am getting clicks at very close to the right temperature, and lately I have been relying on the click to tell me when to start drawing. They may be a hair early but if so they are still pretty close...

Awesome, haven’t got any temp stuff so I’ve been waiting for someone to comment on it. Do you find the VI matches up with the clicks?

I just spent 1 hour and 25 minutes trying to find the spare o-rings, screens and the direct tube.

Any other vape… I would have given up after… maybe 15 minutes… and just got a different vape out or gone to the desktops and tomorrow ordered a replacement.

Nope, it’s a testament to how much I like this vape, even though I don’t use the direct tube that often, the idea of loosing it was, I was so unhappy… let alone the fact that I was searching for those items because the damn screen went down the sink so I was just trying to replace that at the time.

Thankfully, found it after enlisting some help from my support…

I had got to the point of having the “is it better to have loved and lost than to never love at all” conversation with myself…

That is a good question. I haven't really been paying much attention to the VI. I will look more closely when I get home tonight.

I seem to be having a problem with my wand, which I described in more detail in another thread, but he battery indicator is dropping precipitously, even on a fresh set of batteries, making it very difficult to effectively use the Tempest with the wand. I didn't really notice this until I swapped out from the aspire batteries that came with the device to some relatively new LGHG2s that I've been using in other vapes. This is even happening with molicels that are not brand new but certainly are not old and work fine in other vapes. I'm starting to wonder about the wand.

My battery indicator on the wand also goes way down when using the Tempest. I have read in the past that it isn't the best at reading battery level. I also believe that the Tempest draws a lot more energy from the wand than a DV for example. Even on brand new, freshly charged Molicels it does this. However, it still seems to work for lots of heats.

New wand-user too and my battery indicator also goes all over the place but i read these posts when i just received my wand:

My wands battery gauge is all over the place too and it's new, is it the batterys being low quality the problem or the wand itself?

the Tempest draws about 100w from the batteries where the Dynavap draws like 30w so when you put the Tempest in, it compares the power remaining to the current output which shows the amount remaining as much lower

I use two pairs of new Molicel P28 for the record. Should count the heatings i get out of fresh charge but the indicator goes down to 1 bar during first cycle but "recovers" after. Brenyo said he gets 15 cycles out of a charge but like i said i didn't count yet.

My guess is that the indicator picks up on the voltage sag

Mine does this as well, I think it's just estimating battery life based on draw but it doesn't actually drain that much. I've seen mine drop to 1 bar during use, but the next time I turn the wand on the batteries are still at 3-4 bars.

I'm jealous your disks even work. I've literally never heard mine activate. But my VI seems to work pretty well, I reheat once it gets a little below the 1st notch and stop just over the 2nd. So far so good but still testing

Thats cool mate, definitely looked like a great roast. Do you have a repeatable technique down?

Out of curiosity what are you expecting as a difference with SIc compared to Zrc?

Did you ever figure it out mate? If not can I help?

And randomly….

I like to set up different things to use hands free… anyone else have a setup for use at home with their Tempest?

@RedZep I decided I prefer to open the Tempest sideways on the cap of the Reload using the notches on the cap to slot into the top of the Reload? Really useful when the Tempest cap is tight and wants to slip on the magnet if your doing it vertical.
Still haven't tried that. I'll give it a go now.

Btw the Tempest is making an appearance on the Troy and Jerry show tonight. Quite excited myself.

So this aint a final review, more of an first look.

This feels like an endgame device, I run it with the direct tube, spiral piece inside and the lid opened fully and airport also opened, I am running a full bowl.

I like how it vapes, run it to timeout in the wand around 550, it tastes fantastic and has a great mouth feel. I do tend to go too far though, I think I hit it a bit fast/forcefully too much and get further into the dark than I would like and end up coughing. I am thinking I will just learn to do better over time, as a long time dynavap user I thought maybe I had ok technique but I think this is different due to capacity and heat holding capacity, I am almost rushing my tokes I think.

I do one bowl and then sometimes a follow up or a few, the reload for this is amazing and quick to switch, it is very convenient and frankly is so well matched to the workflow with this thing. They go together, not the same experience without.

Sometimes I get bud on the threads, or kinda messingly around when I tap the stem in the reload. I wonder if their is a trick or something here, not a big deal but a tiny complaint, ridiculous perhaps!

I bought parts for a ball vape during a black friday sale assuming that I would want something more... Parts have arrived and I have not gotten around to assembling it yet due to just really enjoying this thing! I will and it will be curious to see how it stands up to a bigger unit.

Was hitting at 5F at night time when I went to look at stars and it was ridiculously chill with above setup, looking forward to wood though!

Hash with cotton tasted ridiculously great I think that is a game changer in ways because it can take a re heat when you add quite a bit.

Overall this thing is amazing and it is doing everything I could have asked, I am suspicious that maybe I am still in the honeymoon period but it still is impressing me.

Yes, the Tempest clearly draws much more power than a VC. And with the Aspire batteries the indicator jumps all around and then comes back. With my LGHGs, however, after one successful heating, the battery indicator tends to keep dropping til it goes completely dark and shuts down.

I am going to blame the batteries for now. I don't think any of them are unused at this point. I have 2 sets of Molicel 28s on order and we will see how they do. They are the most powerful 18650s I have used and last the longest before needing to change in my other vapes.

Maybe I'll try the torch tonight for shits and giggles...

Added: I noticed looking around that most of the battery vendors are no longer carrying the LGHG2s. They used to be pretty much everywhere. Has LG been losing respect in the battery industry?

I'm all but a battery specialist but i did read a couple of times that for vapes that use 2 batteries it is advised to use a "dedicated pair" of cells rather than just randomly taking some batteries from "the bunch". To avoid one battery being stressed more than the other due to difference in power/performance/decline.
This also implies that it's best to use new batteries when pairing them.
I figured this pairing to be pretty important in this case too since the Wand has to perform on high power levels so i made sure i'm using 4 new ones and i've marked them so they stay together.

Just got up and saw the post on Instagram about it being on "tonight" which conveniently seems to be just now

It's great to see it in the hands of people who can spread the word and get more interest, there is already 300 people watching the stream, but I hope they have played with it a bit in advance, last I talked to Troy he still hadn't "touched it yet" and that was a week ago....

There is so much good stuff here, technique, tips and tricks... that I hope they have looked at and tried.

...it does make the "little things" I keep thinking of raising, sharing or asking seem... silly... ah well... lets see how the stream goes.

Sup all. Finally received and first impressions mimic the theme around here, WOW! It really is a piece of art and reminds me of my Omni XL .. but on steroids :brow: So many pieces to it which is really cool. The zirc balls are perfect for this unit. IME they give a nice "soft", yet effective output of heat without getting too toasty.

I'm an impatient torch guy, so that's what I'm using. It doesn't require near the flame strength I thought it might .. nice!! Like rebelFarmer, I got really dark brown abv for the first couple half bowls, then same on a full bowl. Adjusted the flame down a bit and thing is ready to rock in around 25-30 seconds

Can't wait to play around with the airflow more but have started with the direct tube & scu that ya'll have mentioned. Will have a hand at some MTL config too. Got the 14mm glass adapter from Ritual (in action) and have had the BB6 (in action) for a long time.

Thanks to all the early testers for the tips & tricks to make this a great first evening with the Tempest! Whoot Whoot!

Is there an official and for sure count on the balls in each of the pre releases?

I had my screen come loose and some fell out after my last bowl when I unscrewed the cap so I found what I hope was what fell and emptied the rest with them and cleaned them.

It’s hard counting these tiny things but it seems around 80

Edit: seems the manual says 90 so I may be missing some

@RedZep do you have a mesh ball screen? I just saw it on T&J and I have a more solid metal screen so was just wondering which you had. I also noticed that there was a lot of burnt bowls in the stream.

VapingYogi,
Anybody still willing to help me figure out how to change the inner tubes? I would love to try the direct airflow tube….

Many of us having same wand/battery thing happening so it’s fine I’d imagine…just the wand pulling energy and then remembering where the true capacity is after the heat cycle ends.

I also get bud stuck in the threads (i mentioned the threads may be too thin so this doesn’t happen. Really though, that’s just reaching for a negative here.

I’m amazed- flavor is just so good. I love it

Only way I was able to get it was by really really pulling at the mouthpiece to get it loose. Mine was pretty stubborn but eventually came out.

After that you just need to fix an o-ring on the direct tube just like it is on the helix tube

has anyone had issues removing the mouthpiece from the stem? it’s been very difficult on the tempest i received for both installing and removing.
