Vapor_Eyes
taste buds
When I get my second Grasshopper I will bring them both out with me. Not for quick trips around town but for longer trips, hiking, etc. it would be handy to have two.
We want to make sure we have back ups for the back up, far as vaporizers go. Don't want chances of going back to combustion in a pinch.
I've had vaporizers that I only used a few times because the taste and the vaporizer itself didn't appeal to me. I am curious about the GH and will eventually buy one.
For me, at this point, if it's a choice between going back to combustion or going without, I go without. We want to make sure we have back ups for the back up, far as vaporizers go. Don't want chances of going back to combustion in a pinch.

I do still have my Ti preorder from early May 2016 which still says "ships August 2016". I'm not sure how Hopper can purport that they will ship my preorder next month when they are still shipping orders from 12 months ago. It seems that HL still aren't making much of an effort to provide accurate order lead times to customers. This is not a matter of "we are running behind ... be patient". HL cannot actually believe that they could ship my May 2016 order in August 2016....no way.
I really do not understand the criticism of this vape...if you dont like it, try others.
I have on Ti and an SS, a Mighty and a Pax2. The Grasshopper is without doubt the one I pick up nearly always...at home with a Bubbler or on the go, it works just great for me.
We puffers are a fickle bunch and if you haven't noticed....many of us are a bit OCD. The shipping delays, reports of multiple (and frequent) unit failures, and reports of strange GH behaviors (flashing lights, hot back end, charger issues) are prolific
Hard to say exactly at this point. I'll start keeping more accurate records but I believe I finished the 3rd bowl(this last one was very small) last night with the same battery with it giving me lots of blue flash warning that the battery is about to die. How's your battery life been with that warm backend?
Thanks for reminding me...time to charge my Crafty!Hard to say exactly at this point. I used to vape mediocre hash in my Verdamper, using a nutmeg grater to turn it into a coarse powder. Not too fine though, so it doesn't clog up the screen. As the Verdamper and the GH are quite similar in that they both can produce endless amounts of really hot air as long as you toke, it "should" work with the GH too. Can't be too resinous I'd say, wouldn't want to try and clean the mouthpiece screen fom chunks of resinWhat are the experiences using the hopper with hashish? Sandwiching it between herbs?
Any 14 mm female piece of glass works with the silicone mouthpiece. A little teflon tape on the mouthpiece instead of the silicone thingy will make it even hands-free. Theres also like 1/2'' silicone tubing around, in vape and shisha shops. Looks better than the teflon tape imo.I imagine that this nice mini VapeXhale Hydratube-clone or this one could be a nice watertool for the gh!?
Have you fully charged all your batteries prior to first use?Last Thursday back home was showing a friend and he was getting ready to order one when the disco lights of doom started their dance. Next day my extra batteries + sleeve arrived from the US (one week, not bad, even at 25 USD shipping as I did not have to pay import or tax). Tried two of the batteries - no go. So I contacted Verdampfnochmal about warranty.
Mine gets warmer at times, much less than the mouthpiece, but noticeable, but it doesn't change the working time. it's always like 2 and a half for me. I could do three if I was sober and shut it off earlier, using the residual heat by not letting it cool off. But thats not me, so I have a spare battery and an extra charger. How's your battery life been with that warm backend?
Nice testing there , I wonder why that heat was being generated and I hope they learn from this and everyone gets a cool back end.Hey all!
I know we have a warranty thread, but I wanted to share some FLIR (thermal image) shots of my Grasshopper.
I've been having issues with a hot backend (most notable when the battery was almost dead). The heat was intense around the clip on the backend, nearly burning my fingers during the hit! So I opened a warranty request and explained the problem. They shipped me a replacement backend without shipping them the hopper in for repairs.
I now have my replacement backend and boy what a difference it makes! Yes it gets a "little" warm, but it does NOT get burning hot like the other one did. I also notice my battery life seems to have improved, and I no longer see flickering blue lights during the draw (unless the battery is VERY low).
Before I ship back the defective hot backend, I decided to do some testing. I used batteries which were 50% drained (to generate the most heat possible from the backend), set the hopper to max temp (5), and performed a 20 second draw through a bubbler.
Here are the results of my testings.......
HOT Backend:
Note the intense heat around the clip - you can clearly see the + symbol!
Now here's the new back-end:
Wow! Look at that, no visible heat on the backend!
Wow now I know my back end is not performing properly it gets burning hot and battery life is poor I feel bad about filing a warranty when my hopper still works and many folks are still waiting on there units but I love my hopper and if the back end is killing it I want it replaced to expirience optimal hopper power thank for the test your a true vapouristHey all!

They fit perf...perhaps u ordered the general battery caps....he sells both.I ordered battery caps from Delta 3D studios and they are way too big for my hopper batteries. I assume I received caps for different batteries. Other people have bought them and they fit right?
I would assume if peeps email something like, "oh my gawd my hopper is freaking out I don't know what to do help!!!" They will ask u to send unit back to diagnose prob....otherwise if peeps email clear issues like, "my back end is way hot or I have disco death lights" they will send appropriate part and avoid diagnosing...make sense? Just a guess...On a different topic... Why do they tell some ppl to send back their whole unit but others only send /receive just one part?
It says grasshopper battery caps on the invoice is that not correct? I had ordered something for my mighty in the same order maybe it confused things lolThey fit perf...perhaps u ordered the general battery caps....he sells both.
Yea makes sense, thanks.I would assume if peeps email something like, "oh my gawd my hopper is freaking out I don't know what to do help!!!" Ps like your leather case do you ship to the uk
Perhaps I should have qualified with some of the criticism...nice answer and your usage is almost identical to mine...hits when I want them, very discretely...No doubt this is my favorite vape ever. I do, however, understand some of the criticisms....though perhaps much of the criticisms are unwarranted.
We puffers are a fickle bunch and if you haven't noticed....many of us are a bit OCD. The shipping delays, reports of multiple (and frequent) unit failures, and reports of strange GH behaviors (flashing lights, hot back end, charger issues) are prolific. Any time a working Hopper acts a bit strangely....the OCD consumer freaks out and questions the reliability of their Hopper. Warranted?...maybe...maybe not.
I use the Hopper natively. I usually take a puff or two and put it away until the desire strikes again. Batteries usually last me more than a day given my light (comparatively speaking) use. Aside from some intermittent heat near the clip...I"ve had zero reason to be concerned about my Hopper's reliability....aside of course from the constant reports of Hopper failures.
There simply is not another vape that does what the GH does....does it this well...and does it in this fantastic form factor and build quality. Had Hopper worked the bugs out prior to manufacture and shipment....I'd say that Pax would be relegated to the same now defunct category with the typewriter. The GH is this good. Unfortunately the criticism is imo being magnified by posters with problem devices. Our OCD natures (no offense intended) then tend to make some folks forget the trees while in the midst of the forest.
