The J-hook thread!

do you have an idea why the wood makers in the vaporizing scene never gave this tip? to "cover up" themself if somebody makes mistake and the acetone will make contact with the wood's finish maybe?

Yeah this is totally off topic but Ed had been recommending acetone for his wood stems for many years now...

Back on topic, good vibes boro It's working on a big drop of hooks to be on the site for sale soon!

If you don't mind China Glass, these are the ones that I ordered. They are not the quality of OGB, but they work perfectly well.

I went with China glass because I expected to be breaking them when I was out, but I haven't broken any yet. I bought a three pack..

Thanks, I ordered three flat mouths, cheap enough that I won't throw a tantrum if I break it by mistake.

While not a j-hook, if I had the means I would look at CDXX pipes. His beautiful neo and proxy pipes are amazing. He recently added injector and diffuser bowls too.

He's a good member here and there is a thread for his work:

I'm not sure if he does customs, but something he has may scratch your wood itch.
Thanks for the referral and kind words! And, Yes, I do custom work...

Bologna

(zombie) Woof.

I wanted to get an ash catcher for the 9mm 12" Calibear beaker I got my daughter last 4/20, so I figured I try one, too... and being the cheap prick I am, I saw the $7 14mm (for DV ) j-hook and chucked one in with 'em... can't wait to see how much they suck... should be here by the end of next week... wOOt...!
This stuff came in last week and I gave the j-hook a quick test drive with a '20 DV Ti tip and OW Ole Stubby glass stem and I am finally getting around to posting some quick thoughts:

The j-hook is about what I expected and feels def worth the money for a cheap around the town beater if I feel I want one... the taste wasn't great, as I always prefer a lil water, but I bet it's not all that dif from my Inception j-hook. I also think the taste has more to do with me delving back into convection lately with the Terp Hammer than anything else, quite honestly.... oh, and the weld hole is a bit too small and constricted, especially when paired with DV, of course, but still very usable.

The dry ash catchers pretty much suck, as expected... if being straight and level isn't important as much to you or your process than they're alright, I suppose... I may keep the 90 or they'll both be going to my burnin' daughter...

Though not a j-hook but still related to the post, this is coming soon to test:

And these are actually pretty nice! The top one is quite a bit more restricted than the bottom one, but sometimes I actually want a lil restriction:

They look really good!
Is there a big draw resistance because of all the beads and bends with those j-hooks?

I got the dhgate jhook that I saw recommended in here a few times . The mouthpiece isn't great in my opinion but it is not a deal breaker for me. Seems to function pretty well. I actually think it pairs pretty well with the xmax v3, even if it looks somewhat strange.

I can't believe I forgot to post this here. I got my CC Xeric 2.0 and I'm really enjoying it.

It's better at cooling than I even expected. I suspect that is due to the thick glass and maybe a bit more volume before it goes into the stem.

I've really been digging it and it feels great it the hand. The TM is too heavy to rely on those little feet, but it is not a problem when holding it.

Also it is gorgeous in person.

I've been really enjoying this setup. The bowl is a 14-18mm adapter that I put a screen in. I use a silicone 18-14 adapter at the joint to make a secure connection without a clip. One handed wireless ball vape.

The silicone adapters I got here.

Thanks for that link

that is so very pretty.... I didn't realize a new J-hook was required buying, thank you for enlightening me

how do you find the heat when using that hook with that wireless assembly, does it get warm to the touch? vapor comfortable?

I'm still using my Elevate J-Hook and Prophet which is the same? I don't know, I want to find one that's free standing like the CC Xeric - but perhaps a slightly different style.

The injector bowl gets pretty hot but the j-hook itself is fine. There's definitely some burn risk with your hand that close to the omega.

I like to set the temperature quite low when using it on the j-hook. The cooling is good in my opinion but it's still a bit harsh hit if you try to rip it like a water pipe. I am a baby with taking harsh hits though.

This one can kind freestand but I don't trust it. Even bumping the table would probably knock it tip over.

No j-hook that I have ever used would replace my Prophet. The prophet is a whole other class for me. But I do have an elev8 hook that I never use because it has no cooling features and is just not nearly as fun as the many other hooks I own. I think I just like dry glass.

I have to admit I use my Prophet more than my J-hooks but I am still looking for a good J-hook that I can stand and heat. Just haven't found it. I have also only used a Peak Pro dry so, its my go too. The Eleva8 I filled with rubies for fun to see if it was a better experience and just ended up having to clean a lot of rubies... might still have a look at the CC Xeric, I just want something more like the Puffco Gandalf but that either has a stand of can stand on its own withs a 14/18mm female.
