I think it's how they lift the water: the Influx lifts the water a lot higher than the SAML does (water travels a further distance while compressed in the tube); my assumption is that takes more force.

The one I posted above has a more traditional look but the function is also really good. Nice with ball vapes, etc. I think they are both based on the same classic piece with the Vertex having a bigger reservoir and the SAML a more open pull.

Hope you all are enjoying the art of vaping! I think this ol' electric ceramic hippie pipe is still the most powerful (and among the best) of the vapes I've owned. It's the OG ball vape after all! ; ) Flavor and effects are outstanding, not to mention the aesthetics! It's a happy machine.

No, the body is ferrous but not magnetic. Or at least the Camouflet Inductor has little problem heating it. It's probably pushing the wand to its limits, but that's just a guess. I agree though that it's wonderful with the torch.

I haven't tried to remove it but I don't see why not. That may be the magnetic part, though.
