Re: Herb Grinders

Just out of curiosity, on the "Ed's wood grinder", what are the teeth like? Are the  metal post's? or are the teeth sharpened like that of an aluminum grinder? Or are the teeth, more like spike's (made from wood)?

I'm just asking because i've heard a few people mention that particular unit, and i've never seen one before.

Re: Herb Grinders

Thanks for clarifying.

For those who like wood grinders, has anyone tried Sharpstone's wood grinder, with the  sharpened aluminum teeth? Is there a significant difference in the "grind" of the product?

I've never used a wood grinder, but have often wondered what the comparison would be be like.

Re: Herb Grinders

My very first grinder was a Sweetleaf made of wood, years ago that looks very much like the one shown above.  I liked it but then again I had never seen a grinder prior lol.  I loved that thing biggrin Used for a number of years.  The grind was fine for bongs or rolling but not nearly as fine as the wider teeth in the newer ones I've tried more recently.

Re: Herb Grinders

I just got the chromium crusher in the mail... so i guess delivery is normal.

It looked clean on arrival but used iso + toothbrush as per recommended by the king

It grinds ok i suppose, but the magnets were surprisingly weak. maybe i expected too much.

the silicon seal is hard and doesnt look like it would ware out too quickly but also looks like it could fall out.

the kief press looks like itd be a perfect storage for some preground bud

Re: Herb Grinders

I have just gotten a Magic Flight Launch Box. The MFLB is great, but as many have posted here, it is best when there is a fine grind.
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced grinder with a screen that would filter a fine grind rather than a powder grind?

Re: Herb Grinders

No screen grinder will powder your herb unless it's extremely dry. And even a 4 pc. with 3 mm holes (hard to find) may not give you the fine grind you're looking for. I like a 4 pc. to screen the kief (and other vapes are fine with a fairly coarse grind), and then I like to have a 2 pc. on hand if I want a finer grind. With a 2 pc. you can do a grind, separate the fine ground from the not so fine, and then grind some more on the coarser stuff if you like.

def agree.  having a 2pc and 4pc covers all needs.  sure you can grind upsidedown in the 4pc to get a finer grind too, but that sometimes ends up making a mess and gets that hard, shiny green build up around where the lid fits that makes it eventually seize up when you're using it at some point unless you scrape it off.

IMO any MFLB owner should have a metal 2pc grinder with teeth that shred the herb up fine.  I liked vaping kief bowls in my LB when i tried it, but i ended up just vaping it together with the powdered bud that the 2pc will put out.   The screens so fine on those that it doesnt suck through before it gets vaped or anything, so i cant think of a reason i would really want to separate it for later usage, would rather each bowl be that much more potent.

Yeah it'll do the job, but messily. You need a brush to clean out the grinder sections. A 2 pc. for vapes like the LB/PD/MZ is worth the purchase IMO, especially when a SC is under $20 for FC members.

Re: Herb Grinders

I have a space case and the build quality is extremely good.  I like how I am able to control the fineness of the grind depending on application.  For my PD, very fine grind is great.  For joints, a bit coarser of a grind makes for a slower burning j.

overall, very satisfied with that purchase.

Re: Herb Grinders

A $5 plastic, magnetc grinder is the best I have used, the CNC ones just can't bite and I hate having to dust off flat ended prongs.  Magnets and shark/pyrimid teeth I redckon</worthShit> :-D

I have two..one came with my Volcano and one with my MFLB.  I tried it once.  Haven't since.  It seems if there is any stickyness to your herbs thse type of grinders are crappola.

Are metal ones even effective on sticky herbs?

Re: Herb Grinders

I got a chromium crusher a long time ago, haven't needed another grinder since. It's a 4 pc, but the chamber the bud falls into is a bit shallow, not that big of a problem though. And if you keep a clean nickel inside that chamber, when your done grinding your bud, shake it around but keeping the grinder flat. The nickel will bounce around inside and knock off a shit ton more kief. peace

wouldnt you rather leave those trichomes on the herbs for vaping?

going out of your way to collect more kief by shaking your herb is only making the herb less potent...

i do all my grinding and try not to shake at all.  then after some time ill collect the kief.

im curious to others techniques

Re: Herb Grinders

That's why I use a large 2 pc. Spacecase instead of a 4 pc. Makes the grind fine as can be while keeping trichomes intact. ko

Re: Herb Grinders

I couldn't imagine using my LB without my 2 pc. Space Case. Whatever kief is leftover after I dump the contents into my jar, I use the small LB brush to get the real powdery remains. I then have the option to add it to my ground material or store it separately, can't ask for more.

Re: Herb Grinders

do woodgrinders work well in the longterm? seems like me they would get sticky eventually and not as easy to clean
I'm thinking about buying a grinder, but I just want a simple metal grinder without mesh etc, and for a simple thing they can get quite expensive, and at most places the delivery costs would be almost as much as the grinder itself(and offline there isn't enough choice closeby, only one kind of specialized headshop, next to the coffeeshops selling some headshopstuff, but only thing they had was an electric grinder and snortarticles)

People probably buy the wood more for aesthetic reasons more than ultimate durability.

If you just want a 2 piece grinder I would say you can't go wrong with a Space Case or Mendo Mulcher, I did a search just now and there is a company called Vapemart is having an out of business sale on all Space Case, you can score a small for $18 and a large for $28, that is the cheapest I have seen them.
